Good quality
Rated with 4 out of 5 stars.
Product is made of good quality, durable material. The fact that it is dishwasher safe makes it easy to reuse. The seal seems very good, at least when stored at home. I tested it and it actually passes the "water leak test", so I believe it should protect your food from all kinds of nasty bug invasions when sealed closed! I like the idea of a reusable plastic bag alternative. Challenges, on the other hand, include that I would need to have a lot of these to really get rid of plastic bag usage, because I use so many plastic bags at any given time for different tasks/foods. The product also has a thick layer of material, so I'm guessing it will need to be used a number of times to be more ecological compared to thin plastic bags. This should not nessessarily be a problem, as long as you actually get around to using it in your daily life, since silicone is a durable material that can last a long time. The thickness of the material also protects the bag from any holes forming or any bugs chewing through it, unlike traditional plastic bags. I would recommend using it especially for things where you know you would otherwise use a plastic bag just for a short while and then throw it away or replace it, as then it will be able to replace a much bigger number of plastic bags than if you just put something in it for months/years, and just leave it in the closet for this long time storage task. Just buying one of these, honestly, I have not been able to get rid of plastic bags altogether, as expected. I see this as being one product that can be successfully used as part of a wider strategy to decrease or get rid of plastic bag usage, together with other products like glass jars, storage containers and so on. I'm still working on getting the perfect system, and I think this product is a great addition to that! Other potential disadvanteges include that the bag is a bit larger than taditional plastic bags, so it might not always be a viable alternative for an on-the-go plastic bag. I don't know if the seal would be strong enough for travelling, but works well at home, as mentioned earlier. Another additional advantage is that silicone is considered less toxic and more food-safe compared to traditional plastics, witch is a great bonus.
